BTC and Money

Gold is not money if USD is not, and USD is not money if BTC is not. Arguments against BTC are arguments against money, against civilization itself.

In a sound and complete system, use is develop and develop is use. I should invest in what I use, and I should use what I have invested in. It is not reasonable to work for something and not use it. Therefore, I must have a check that what I develop is what I use, otherwise I should stop its development and/or its use.

That check is BTC (Bitcoin).

Without BTC, one can use something without developing it — that is violence. Or one can develop something without using it — that is layering. Both characterize criminal activity. Money exists to close the loop between use and development, and BTC is the only money that closes it without requiring trust to a counter party!

Why BTC Protects HGL

We have put HGL as the first principle because ideally we should not need anything beyond HGL code. All my time is ideally freed up to produce HGL code. But we are not yet there. The world does not yet run on HGL alone. So we need a protection mechanism to survive and thrive when someone decides not to use HGL code. That mechanism is BTC. We receive Bitcoin as money to protect our time to produce HGL code.

The Exchange

I build HGL code and receive BTC in exchange. This protects my time to build more HGL code. But it would be a waste of BTC to build the same thing in HGL more than once. So when I spend BTC, I build HGL/z code — code that extends what already exists rather than duplicating it.

If you want to build HGL/z code and I want to pay for HGL/z code, we are aligned. And if you do not want HGL/z, I can still receive BTC to recover my time and develop HGL/z later. Those who spend their BTC on anything other than HGL/z are free to do so. I do not care — all their BTC flows to counterparties who are surrounded by HGL/z code.

Do HGL/z and/or BTC. Your choice.
